Victoria Mshetsyan: From Guided Self-Learning to Service Titan

One of our earliest students, Victoria Mshetsyan, has come a long way. From Guided Self-Learning (GSL) to Project-Based Learning (PBL), Victoria has navigated nearly every program at TUMO Labs. What’s more? She just finished a Data Science internship at ServiceTitan, a company she only dreamed of working at just a few years ago.
Victoria first heard about GSL, a flexible, free program for learners over 18 that offers Python, JavaScript, and Machine Learning courses, when she was a sophomore in university.
“I understood that I needed to deepen my understanding of programming, and so I applied to TUMO Lab’s GSL program and started off with Python, then moved on to Machine Learning. At the time, I was a 2nd year student and I wanted to get more practical experience.”
While she had already been introduced to Python at university, GSL’s theory-based modules furthered her understanding. She eventually moved on to the project-based learning opportunities at TUMO Labs which provided hands-on, practical learning.

When asked about the projects, she shared:
“I took part in three projects. The first one was a project with a German company, SAP, and through this project we were able to build a community. It was really cool because we’re talking about a huge project where we did user behavior analysis. I learned so much from that project.”
Next, Victoria worked with VX Soft: “I worked on workflow optimization. Then through this project, VX Soft gave me an internship for two months where I got to work with real data which was really exciting!”
Her latest project was with Digital Explorers, an initiative that connects IT talent with companies worldwide. Though she was interested, a major challenge presented itself—Victoria was still studying at university and couldn’t leave Armenia.
“Because I wanted to stay in Armenia, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to participate in Digital Explorers. At the same time, I heard about an online program and so I applied. But then something incredible happened. I got an email from Service Titan offering me a technical interview through the Digital Explorers program. That was huge since it’s one of the top IT companies in Armenia for me.”
Soon after, more exciting news came her way. The online school she had applied to had reached out and told her that they really wanted her to study with them and offered her a full scholarship.

Now Victoria is advancing her knowledge in Machine Learning at Service Titan, while honing her data science skills through the online school and her university.
In her free time, she enjoys playing the drums: “Sometimes I call the studio and I go for an hour and play.”
While Victoria has a lot on her plate, her hard work, open mind, and dedication to learn as much as she can from as many places as she can are already taking her to great places. We can’t wait to see where she goes next.
